HOYGARD 6,180 masl (Second highest summit of the Snowy of Cachi),
The Massif of the snowy of Cachi has many options of ascents that go from a simple Trekking of height to the 6380 meters of its main summit, Liberator San Martin.
With its nine summits it is the most important massif of Salta. The first sporting ascent of this mountain was made in 1950 by the Norwegian doctor Arne Hoygaard, the Italian Franciscan Fray Oliverio Pelicelli, and 1st Lieutenant Pedro Di Pasquo. Although the first attempt of ascent was made in 1904 by the Andean explorer of German origin, Federico Reichert. Just like most of the mountains of northern Argentina, the Nevado de Cachi has a significant amount of archaeological sites, at its feet are the ruins of the Pailas and on its slopes and some summits archaeological remains.
For more information on this giant you can consult the bibliography of Christian Vitry, “The Snowy Cachi”.
